Ecological Forestry Operator Training Opportunity!

Nova Scotia is committed to adopting ecological forestry practices on Crown lands to protect ecosystems, support biodiversity, and ensure long-term forest sustainability. As part of the implementation of recommendations from the Independent Review of Forest Practices in Nova Scotia, the province is prioritizing the roll out of the Silviculture Guide to the Ecological Matrix (SGEM).

What to Expect During Training:

• Delivery of SGEM-focused sessions on the background and key principles of Ecological Forestry.

• In-field visits at forestry sites to review the completed treatment blocks and discuss prescriptions, methods, and key success factors in implementing Ecological Forestry.

• Please note, as some of the training will be in-field, come prepared with outdoor clothing and PPE.

• Lunch will be provided.
